About Us

Mitch & the Barroness

If we were south of the border, their sound might be described as Americana. Instead, Pete "Mitch" Mitchell and Elissa "the Barroness" Barron embrace their Canadiana identity, with overtones of southern-fried blues.

Their music is stripped down; just vocals and a guitar or two, accompanied by the playful banter of two friends who have known each other a long time. They are story tellers inspired by story tellers. Whether laying down their own tales, or sharing covers that fit the bill, they lay their sound down in the meandering verges of alt blues, country and folk music, and deliver it all with fervent intensity.

This duo writes and performs around southern Vancouver Island.

May 7th, 7:30 pm. Duncan Showroom.  FINALLY!

It took 14 years to get around to recording our first CD, and another year and a half to manage a CD release, but I'm pretty sure we can pull it off this time.

If you can join us in-person, please do. We'd be  honoured to share the experience with you. Reserve tickets HERE  or just show up the night of.  You can also watch the livestream HERE (...when the time comes.)

This time around, we're excited to have Mexican Busride open. It has been a few years since we've had the opportunity to see the Busride in action and I'm pretty excited to see what they've been up to.

We will be accompanied by Connie Lebeau and Niels Petersen.  Connie has toured with the likes Valdy, and performed on Broadway and Radio City Music Hall, Tanglewood and the Universal Amphitheatre in LA, as Raffi’s backup artist. Niels has shared the stage with such artists as Joan Armatrading, Tina Turner, Burton Cummings, Sir Cliff Richard, Trish Yearwood and Paul Rogers, amongst others.

So that means we're in good hands, and you will be too.

Practice, practice, practice.

While we are on the topic of being in good hands, I want to draw your attention to the Duncan Showroom. This place is one-of-a-kind, and in the very best way.  Committed to live music, there is something happening on the Showroom stage almost every night!  So stop by if you're in the area. Or check out the livestream if you're not.  Make a point to visit in July, for the 39 Days of July summer music festival, which is a labour of love for the Showroom crew. I guarantee, it will be worth it!
